The Sagebrush Reference Area is comprised of approximately 4.7 acres of gently to moderately <br />sloping vegetation that has a predominately northerly aspect. This reference area is located on a gently <br />sloping ridge north of the Administration / Facilities Area (Map 1). <br />A total of 42 plant taxa were observed in the Sagebrush Reference Area in 2017 (Appendix A, Table <br />A-1). Ground cover in this unit (Table 1 and Charts 1 & 2) consisted of 51.95% live vegetation, 3.30% <br />rock, 31.10% litter, and bare soil exposure of 13.65%. Perennial cover across the unit averaged 36.65% <br />and annual & biennial cover averaged 14.80%. Noxious cover averaged 0.50% and was composed of <br />solely cheatgrass. Dominant taxa were Japanese brome, big sagebrush (Artemisia tridentate), and <br />western wheatgrass with 14.20%, 10.15%, and 4.75% average cover, respectively (Table 1). <br />11 <br />
