TR-119 Response Cont.

total of 391.7 acres were included as active in the original model compared to 338.68 acres if all 2018 N -
Pit stripping was completed. Also of note is the 2 year growth (CN 67) category at 461.5 acres in the
original model compared to 675.57 acres cu rrently with 2018 N-Pit stripping removed. Slopes are also
less steep in the proposed stripping areas for N-Pit and should also reduce runoff potential.

The East Pyeatt sediment ponds have the capacity to treat proposed 2018 topsoil stripping within the N-Pit
area based on this comparison. Curve number 87 active areas are less than the original model and the 2
year growth areas have increased as much of the watershed within F-Pit to the south of N-Pit has attained
Phase II and III bond release.

4. Please provide the acreage of the Haul road expected to be located in the Federal lease.

Trapper Response: Proposed stripping of the Nighthawk Pit haulroad is comprised of previously disturbed
and reclaimed Phase III bond released areas. The total proposed acreage of this re-disturbance is 3.3
acres.

5. Please update the submitted revised page 3-16 regarding the sections L Pit Mining and Nighthawk Pit
mining, such that there is no supposition that a request for mining is either being requested or approved
with this TR.

Trapper Response: See attached revised permit page 3-15a.

6. Please indicate if you anticipate requiring a 200 foot buffer past the lease boundary on the 2018 east
stripping line at L pit.

Trapper Response: Proposed 2018 stripping included in TR-119 does not encompass nor surpass the
current federal lease boundary. A buffer will not be necessary nor is requested with this revision.

DRMS Comments April 9, 2018

Please clarify if any additional culverts will be associated with the mentioned road and if
so, please provide all necessary information to satisfy rule 4.03.1(4 ).

Trapper Response: The routing of the new Life of Mine haul road on the northern perimeter of Nigh thawk
pit is routed in such a way that it follows a ridgeline and no culverts are planned to be used under it at this
time.

Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the enclosed information.

Sincerely,

Graham Roberts
Environmental Engineer

GCR [M/Permit Revisions/TR-119 Response1, 2 CL.doc]

c File 109.2.3.4 w/o attachments
Revisions File
