Public Notice <br />Snowcap Coal Company, P.O. Box 1430, Palisade, CO 81526, has prepared an application for a Phase II & III <br />bond release, for its Roadside South Portal Mine, Mining Permit No. CA 981-041, which will be submitted to <br />the Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety, after the last publication of this public notice. The permit was <br />originally approved on January 3, 1983 and renewed on January 3, 2018. A corporate surety bond in the <br />amount of $65,702.24 is currently in place, of which $14,444 is being requested for release. The application is <br />requesting the release of approximately 10.4 acres of reclaimed surface lands and 291.3 acres of undisturbed <br />surface lands at Snowcap Coal Company's Roadside South Mine. Portions of these areas have been <br />undermined. <br />Reclamation work has been performed from 1992 through 2007 and is located within Snowcap's permit <br />boundary in T10S, R98W, Sections 34 and 35. The Roadside borrow area, North Decline, Substation A, <br />Substation B and Conveyor Corridor locations have been reclaimed to fish and wildlife post -mining land use. <br />Reclaimed light use roads and tank storage location have been reclaimed to stable configuration and support <br />wildlife vegetation. <br />The Roadside Mine is located approximately three miles northeast of Palisade, CO at the Interstate 70, <br />Cameo Exit No. 46. The location of these sections is contained within the U.S. Geological Survey 7.5 minute <br />Cameo Quadrangle map. The permit area is encompassed within the following lands: <br />T10S, R98W6th P.M., Mesa County, CO: Sections 26, 34 & 35 <br />T11S, R98W,, 6th P.M., Mesa County, CO: Section 2 <br />containing 548 acres, more or less. <br />The surface of the permit area is owned by numerous private land owners and the U. S. Government. The <br />South Portal permit area contains 548 acres of land, of which 472.3 acres is private surface, 31 acres is state <br />surface and 44.7 acres is federal surface. <br />Written comments or objections to the proposed release, and a request for a public hearing or informal <br />conference may be submitted to and additional information obtained from the Denver office of the Division of <br />Reclamation, Mining and Safety [Room 215, 1313 Sherman St., Denver, CO 80203, (303) 866-3567]. <br />Comments, objections or requests for a public hearing or informal conference must be submitted to the <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety within thirty (30) days of the last publication of this notice or within <br />thirty (30) days of the completed bond release inspection, whichever is later. <br />
