ditch relocations or construction of isolation berms. Slopes in the area of drainages will be
maintained at or shallower than 2H:IV. This is in accordance with the Storm Water Discharge
permit. Additional calculations for the storm water/sediment settling pond is presented in
Exhibit G- Water Information.
4. Topsoil and Overburden Handling
Topsoil ranges from 0 to 5 inches thick on site, 2.5 inches is the anticipated average. A
maximum or average of 2 feet of overburden can be found on site. Both topsoil and overburden
are used on site for reclamation of mined out areas. In the event that the King Pit needs to store
topsoil, overburden, or waste fines in a berm, material piles will be either within the foot print of
the current pit or along the western perimeter of the site. Topsoil stockpiles will be constructed to
2H:1 V slopes and overburden piles will have 0.5H:1 V slopes; all stockpiles heights will be < 10
feet. To prevent erosion of stockpiles, within 180 days of establishment piles will be seeded with
yellow sweet clover
The anticipated topsoil to be removed and stockpiled in undisturbed future mining areas amounts
to 84,200 CY. Partially vegetated berms of overburden and waste fines exists for Alamosa
County in the southern extent of the site as well as a large north-south trending berm along the
western extent of the site. These berms collectively contain 633,400 CY. Alamosa County
reserves total 22,400 CY while overburden and waste fines to be used during reclamation total
611,000 CY. The anticipated overburden in all unmined areas to be removed and stockpiled
totals to 809,600 CY. These are estimates based on the soils report and existing operations as of
November 2017.
5. Schedule of Operations
Mining operations will occur Monday through Saturday during daylight hours and intermittently
during the life of the operation. Mining, screening and processing will be conducted with
portable equipment at various times of the year. Product will be sold throughout the year,
although little is expected to be sold in winter months. Night gravel mining will not occur;
although minor truck activity or repairs may occur after daylight hours. Mining and processing
will take place no more than 12 hours per day, during daylight hours, Monday through Saturday.
Hauling will take place from 7 am to 7 pm Monday through Saturday.
King Pit creg i cwicki a«f Asaociat PIRA'
February 2018 D-6
