Primarily based on the relatively low concentrations of fluoride
observed in the shallow alluvial wells throughout each watershed, fluoride is not considered a relevant
indicator parameter for mining-related sources. Observed fluoride concentrations in deeper bedrock wells
in the Arkansas River and Tenmile Creek watersheds are believed to be related to fluorite mineralization
within rock formations including quartz monzonite or migmatite. Because concentrations of fluoride have
been observed near the most stringent table value standard in deep POC well ARK-MW-001 D, fluoride has
been added to the indicator parameter list for the POC Wells in the Arkansas River Watershed only.
Based on the evaluation of baseline monitoring data, Table 4-2, below, presents the indicator parameter
list for NPLs and routine quarterly groundwater monitoring, as well as the expanded baseline parameter list
for periodic monitoring and reporting.
EPP—Appendix C May 2018 16
