Strand <br />Manager, Denver rield Branch <br />Office of Surface Nfining <br />Reclamation and Enforcement <br />Western Region Office <br />1999 Broadway, Suite 3320 <br />Denver, CO 80202-3050 <br />RECEIVED <br />MAY 0 7 2018 <br />Division of Reclamation, <br />Mining & Safety <br />MAY 0 2 208 <br />Re: Unanticipated Discovery at the Colowyo Coal Mine (Permit No. C-1981-018) Collom Mine Expansion Monitoring (SI -IPO <br />Project #67752) <br />Dear Mr. Strand: <br />Thank you for your correspondence dated April 23, 2018 (Received by our office on April 30, 2018) for the above referenced <br />project submitted to our office is pursuant to submitted under Section 106 of the National 1•Gstoric Preservation Act. <br />After review of the documentation provided, we concur with your recommendation that isolated find 3018 -IF -I (now assigned <br />514IF8=416) is by definition not eligible to the National Register of Historic Places. Therefore it is our opinion that a finding of no <br />historic properties affected is ;appropriate for isolated find 5MF8416 and the proposed undertaking pursuant to 36 CM <br />800.4(d)(1) and grant that topsoil construction may proceed in this area. <br />We appreciate the diligence of all involved and compliance with the procedures developed for this project regarding unanticipated <br />discoveries. Should human remains also be discovered during project activities, the requirements under State law C.R.S. 24-80 (part <br />13) apply and must be followed. <br />Thank you for the opportunity to comment.
