Page 2
determine if another application will be required. Once the necessary coverage on all targeted plants has
been established, there will be a 2 year monitoring period. The 2 year waiting time will ensure all of the
root system has been adequately effected preventing the current plants will not grow back.
The larger trees will be cut down and the smaller ones will be mowed or mulched. Mowing and chemical
control will be used as future control for the tamarisk.Mowing will be done as needed to prevent new
growth and spraying will be done as needed once control of the site has been achieved.
We have discussed our plan with Tina Travis at the El Paso County Extension on 4-16-18. She agreed
with our plan for a 2 year monitoring period after spraying, then commence mowing or cutting. She also
mentioned we could plant Cotton Woods or Willow Whips to help take over the area which could help
prevent a re-invasion of the tamarisk.
Please see attached documentation for what has been done so far and chemical control documentation.
Please see Attachment labeled(Problem 2 Response).
Problem/possible violation No.3:
Both entrance signs have been replaced with new ones displaying our updated company name, a
statement regarding current reclamation activities, and the permit number. Please see Attachment labeled
(Problem 3 Response).
Observations:
Availability of Records: Kiewit recognized that the original 2017 annual report was submitted without the
map and signature. A follow up email was sent with the Map and signature page on November 30, 2017.
Please see Attachment labeled(Observation 1 Response)
Sincerely,
Kiewit Infrastructure Co.
Mark .
