Effect of Mining on East Salt Creek Ground Water Regime:
The Munger Mine has been sealed and the disturbed areas were graded and seeded in
2007. The sediment pond was reclaimed in 2017. There has been no effect on
groundwater regime. This is based partly on the size of the operation, as well as the
poor quality of the water contained in the aquifer. As stated in the AHR, East Salt Creek
is an accurate name. Data for the conductivity of GW -3 is attached, see Chart 6. GW -3
is located in the alluvium of East Salt Creek below Munger. The baseline number for
conductivity is 7256 umhos/cm. Nearly all of the data points are below the Baseline,
there are however four data points that exceed Baseline for water years 1981, and
1982.
Conclusion:
The operations at the Munger Canyon mine have not had any significant impacts on the
quality or quantity of East Salt Creek Hydrologic Regime. There are no adverse impact
trends that exist. Generally, water quality sampling has demonstrated that results are
highly variable and in-line with the projections in the approved permit document.
