Box 535
Somerset,CO 81434
Dear Sirs:
Hotchkiss Ranches, Inc. owns the private surface estate covering substantially all of the now
abandoned underground Elk Creek Mine. While in operation, in order to safely mine the coal
located in the Elk Creek Mine, Oxbow Mining,LLC was allowed to build Gob Vent Borehole
pads and access roads on Hotchkiss property to develop, operate and maintain these boreholes.
The now existing roads are valuable to Hotchkiss Ranches because they allow improved access
to our property for grazing and hunting purposes and have therefore become very, useful to us.
Hotchkiss Ranches,Inc. requests that the roads that are located on land owned by Hotchkiss
Ranches, which were created by Oxbow Mining, LLC to drill and to access Gob Vent Borehole
sites above the Elk Creek Mine,be left as they are and not be reclaimed.
Thank you for your attention to this matter.
Sincerely,
Brian K.
