The information and/or additional documentation requested is required
before we can proceed further with the evaluation of your application.
All corrections and additions you make to the application form must be typed or printed
in BLACK INK please initial and date all changes and additions you make to the application
form. _
Return the original application form with all attached documentation to this office.
w*#*ws*wwwwrswwww*wwa**i*s*wwwwwwwwww*ww*M+a*wwwwwwwwww*www*rw*ww*www******wwwwwwwww
The Exhibit A attached to your application which describes the detailed use and method
of diversion contemplates the removal from the pit of significant amounts of water for both
dewatering and dust suppression purposes. The Board of Examiners of Water Well Construction
and Pump Installation Contractors has recently passed a resolution pertaining to structures (gravel
pits) diverting ground water for purposes other than evaporation, and that do not comply with the
minimum construction standards required by the Water Well Construction and Pump Installation
Rules. A copy of that resolution is enclosed. In order to determine if the blanket variance would
apply, we need to have more information regarding the structure and/or apparatus that will be
used to dewater the pit and remove water for dust suppression.
Please describe the equipment and/or installation that will be used to remove water frow
the pit. I€you intend to install concrete rings and a permanent type pump in the pit, then it will
probably require a separate variance be granted by the Board.
Field inspection of the site (copy of the report enclosed) of the proposed pit determined
that there is an existing abandoned pit that is within 600 feet of your proposed pit. According to
the Water Commissioner who made the inspection, the abandoned pit is owned by Grand
Junction Pipe (Concrete Pipe?). It will be necessary for your to obtain from the owner of that pit
a waiver stating that they have no objection to the issuance of a permit to construct a well (gravel
pit) located within 600 feet of their well (or pit). A blank form for that purpose is attached. If
you have any questions regarding the field inspection, or completing the waiver form, please
contact Marc Klocker at 245-5894 in Grand Junction.
Feel free contact this office if you have any other questions or require additional
information.
