The Water Well Construction and Pump
Installation Rules exempt wells constructed for the exploration,or for purposes of obtaining
petroleum and other minerals from the need to obtain a well permit. However, the statutes
have determined that the gravel pit is in effect a water well because losses due to
evaporation and pumping occur at the structure. Since the structure has been classified as
a well, it comes under the applicable statutes, rules and regulations.
Even though the pump or pumps used may be temporary installations, pump
installation reports must be completed in full and submitted to this office before the
statement of Beneficial.Use can be accepted.
If there are any additional questions, please contact this -office.
Sincerely,
Richard A.
