Hampden Ave., Ste. 1050 <br />Englewood, CO 80110 <br />Sent via email to: pbruss@bbawater.com <br /> <br />Re:Pueblo East Pit <br />DRMS File No. M-1986-015 <br />Secs. 34 & 35, Twp. 20S, Rng. 64W, 6th P.M. <br />Water Division 2, Water District 14 <br />SWSP ID 408, WDID 1407801 <br /> <br />Plan Period: February 1, 2018 through January 31, 2020 <br />Contact Phone: (303) 806-8952 <br /> <br />Dear Mr. Bruss: <br /> <br />We have reviewed your January 16,2018 letter requesting renewal of a substitute water <br />supply plan (“SWSP”)in accordance with Section 37-90-137(11),C.R.S.,for a sand and gravel <br />pit owned by Transit Mix of Pueblo (“Transit Mix”or “Applicant”).The mine is permitted <br />with the Division of Reclamation,Mining,and Safety under File No.M-1986-015.The <br />previously SWSP was approved March 24,2016 for the period February 1,2016 through <br />January 31,2018.The required renewal fee of $257.00 has been received under receipt no. <br />3684694. <br /> <br />PLAN OPERATION <br /> <br />The gravel operation is located east of Pueblo between Highway 50 and the Arkansas River. <br />This pit did not exist,and no ground water was exposed,prior to January 1,1981.The <br />operation consists of several phases as shown in the attached Figure 1.Currently,mining in <br />Phases 1 has been completed and Transit Mix is in the process of reclaiming the area by <br />backfilling the pit.Mining in Phase 2 has also been completed and has been lined with an <br />approved slurry wall per January 9,2012 correspondence from the Division 2 Assistant <br />Engineer.Mining in Phase 7 began in December 2012,and Phase 7 is currently the main <br />active mining area.However,Transit Mix is currently backfilling portions of Phase 7 and <br />mining is not actively occurring at this time.Transit Mix may resume mining activities in <br />Phase 7 within the period of this SWSP.Consumptive use of ground water from the operation <br />includes evaporation from up to 37.0 acres of settling/discharge ponds and dewatering <br />
