BRL ceased mining activities the
end of February 2016 so the mine has been idle for over two years. Panel B-16 was the last
area that mined under subsidence monuments in October 2014.
Page 2.05-172 of the PAP states the subsidence monitoring program will extend at least two
years beyond cessation of mining in any area, consistent with the need for verification of the
subsidence prediction. The DRMS must approve the cessation of subsidence monitoring
through a technical revision.
Subsidence monuments PL -08 through PL -17 were installed to measure subsidence, if any,
along the Pitkin Mesa Pipe Line and Stevens Gulch Road. Subsidence monuments PL -9, 10, 11,
12, 13, 14 and 15 overly panel B-16 and adjacent panel B-15. The following table shows the
vertical movement of the PL monuments for the past two years.
Cumulative Monument Movement Last Two Years (2016 and 2017)
PL -09
PL -10
PL -11 PL -12 PL -13 PL -14
I PL -15
I PL -16
PL -17
0.02
0.01
0.00 0.02 -0.05 -0.05
1 -0.07
10.00
-0.02
Subsidence monuments 37A through 37H were installed to confirm subsidence does not occur
in the limited extraction zone along Terror Creek or under the transmission line towers.
