Eagle Park Reservoir Company
April 10, 2018
for arsenic and developing an approach to establishing new standards for water bodies where the
water +fish standard cannot be met. For such water bodies, including Eagle Park Reservoir and
the East Fork of the Eagle River, good data is need to determine whether exceedances of the
standard are due to natural conditions and/or anthropogenic sources. If, after 5 -quarters of
sampling and analysis, no issues are identified at lower Us for these three parameters, then the
frequency of sampling could be reduced.
Being able to detect parameters is necessary to define current baseline water quality, which in
turn will help ensure early detection of changes in water quality. Without such data, the trend
analysis required in section 6.3 of the WQMP provides little in the way of assurances for the
Reservoir Company.
In summary, LRE recommends that Climax not discontinue quarterly groundwater or surface
water sampling for arsenic, mercury, and silver at this time. LRE also recommends that Climax
reduce the Us for these parameters so that they are equal to or less than the surface WQ5 (or,
in the case of arsenic, 0.07 ug/L).
LeonardRice
ENGINEERs,ING
