f
Reclamation Plan Technical Revision
Rocky Mountain Materials and Asphalt, LLC Yoder Pit
El Paso County, Colorado
Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety Permit#M-1980-189
Martin Marietta has prepared this Technical Revision JR)to request changes to the reclamation seed mix
and reclamation of haul roads at the Yoder Pit. The Yoder Pit is located in El Paso County, Colorado
approximately 9 miles south of Yoder, Colorado. The Yoder Pit was initially owned and mined by El Paso
County, who operated the pit until 2007, when the lease for the pit was taken over by Rocky Mountain
Materials and Asphalt. Rocky Mountain Materials and Asphalt became a wholly-owned subsidiary of
Martin Marietta in 2016.
One of our proposed revisions to the reclamation plan are to change the reclamation seed mix from that
currently approved to the one shown in Attachment A. The reason for that change is to incorporate
additional native species into the mix and to provide a seed mix which our seeding contractor believes is
the most likely to sprout and lead to successful revegetation.
At the request of the property owner,we are also proposing to leave the haul road that leads across the dam
that impounds the preexisting stock pond at the south end of the pit. The current reclamation plan calls for
the abandonment and reclamation of the haul road. A letter signed by the landowner indicating he/she
wishes the road to remain and its general purpose (access for stock pond maintenance) is attached as
attachment B. The location of the haul road proposed to remain is shown in the appended reclamation plan
map, attachment C.
The owner of the property has also asked that we leave an approximate 50 cubic yard stockpile on the floor
of the pit for the owner's use as fill material on the owner's property. An affidavit signed by the landowner
that the stockpiled material will only be used on his/her land and will not be sold is attached as Attachment
D.
List of Attachments
Attachment A—Proposed reclamation seed mix.
Attachment B -Letter signed by the landowner indicating he/she wishes the road to remain.
Attachment C -Reclamation plan map showing the location of the haul road proposed to remain.
Attachment D -Affidavit that the stockpiled material will not be sold.
t
