SEC1 NTHREE SeismetectoniC Setting and Historical SOISMICIID <br /> The location of the 1882 earthquake at latitude 40.5°N and longitude 105.5° W is adopted from <br /> Kirkham and Rogers (1985) (Figure 1). However, the location is probably only accurate to <br /> within 0.50 latitude and longitude, or roughly 50 km. Regardless of the actual location of the <br /> 1882 earthquake, it is difficult to argue against the possible occurrence of similar-sized events <br /> anywhere in the SRM portion of Colorado. Thus we assume that background earthquakes in the <br /> Colorado portion of the SRM can be at least as large as M 61/4±'/a. <br /> w-IMR.im 8 <br />
