Revegetation Assessment
Guanella Reservoir
Clear Creek County,Colorado
surface on at least the eastern (upslope)side. A combination of subsoil and topsoil, 2 feet thick, would
be placed on top of the barrier to provide sufficient depth for the native species roots to grow(see Table
3 for the minimum root depth of recommended species). The subsoil would be approximately 1.5 feet
thick and would have the appropriate texture and meet DRMS requirements. The topsoil would be a
minimum of 6 inches and provide sufficient nutrients to support native grasses. Both the topsoil and
subsoil would be tested by the CSU Soil Testing Lab and the results sent to DRMS before application at
the project area.
If testing shows that additional nutrients are needed for the subsoil, then a slow-release nitrogen
fertilizer(such as Biosol) would be applied to the soil. A fast release nitrogen fertilizer would not be
used because it only promotes weeds such as kochia, which already occurs in the project area.
Seeding Recommendations
Because the Reclamation Permit Seed Mix has compatibility issues with the existing conditions at the
project area, ERO recommends revising the mix to the native species shown in Table 3. The species in
this revised seed mix are typically found in the area and some were observed during the 2018 site visit.
Table 3. Immediately after seeding,the
site should be mulched and a tackifier added.
Response to DRMS Comments
The following are ERO responses to the revegetation-related DRMS comments.
5
R0 Resources Coroorat:or
