1, ti
Transit Mix Concrete Co.
DRMS COMMENTS—PETER HAYS—REVIEW OF EXHIBIT 6.5—
GEOTECHNICAL STABILITY
Hitch Rack Ranch Quarry Waste Stockpile Analyses
1. The Division is reviewing and verifying the SLOPE/W data provided by Norwest for the
Waste Stockpile Stability Analyses with Clover Technology's Galena software. The Division
will submit comments related to the Waste Stockpile Stability Analyses once the verification
modeling is complete, if required.
Response: Transit Mix understands that the Division is still reviewing and verifying the
Slope/W model results.
Hitch Rack Ranch Pit Wall Geotechnical Assessment
2. The Division did not receive a map indicating the cross-section profile locations for the
Geotechnical Model Analysis for the Slope L-E models with the Applicant's adequacy response.
Please provide the map indicating the cross-section profile locations for the Geotechnical Model
Analysis for the Slope L-E models.
Response: The pit wall geotechnical assessment was performed to evaluate a variety of
combinations of pit wall heights and geology as well as the specific geological structure in the
Phase 1 portion of the pit. Transit Mix has committed to drilling additional boreholes and
collecting additional geotechnical information to be used to update the pit wall stability
evaluation, and these site-specific data will be used to demonstrate the pit wall stability at
specific locations throughout the life of the quarry.
3. The Division did not receive the SLOPE/W slope stability analysis model inputs for the
Geotechnical Model Analysis for the Bench L-E and Slope L-E models with the Applicant's
adequacy response. Please provide the SLOPE/W slope stability analysis model inputs for the
Geotechnical Model Analysis for the Bench L-E and Slope L-E models to allow the Division to
duplicate the analysis with Clover Technology's Galena software for verification purposes.
Response: Transit Mix has provided the Division with the Slope/W model input details for the
Slope/W L-E and bench models.
Hitch Rack Ranch Quarry(M-2017-049)
Response to Comments—March 20, 2018
