The RMR system provides an empirical methodology for estimating
rock mass shear strengths for different rock units using guidelines set forth by Hoek et. al. (2000)
and Bieniawski (1989). As such, the points system (1 to 100) is used to classify rocks from "Very
Poor" to "Very Good Rock". Inputs into the RMR calculation included uniaxial compressive
strength (UCS) and point load testing of drill core samples; RQD measurements; fracture
descriptions from field logs; acoustic/optical televiewer downhole joint measurements; and
structural interpretations as observed in the geologic model. The UCS inputs into the RMR
calculations were derived from 21 core samples sent to Appalachian Mining and Engineering, Inc.
located in Lexington, Kentucky. The results are summarized in Table D-9.
Hitch Rack Ranch Quarry Permit Application
March 20, 2018 D-22
