Box 1488
Paonia, CO 81428
RE: Bowie No. 1 Mine, Permit No. C-1981-038
Permit Renewal No. 7,311 Adequacy Review
Dear Mr. Bear,
The Colorado Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (the Division) has received
the Bowie No.I Mine's March 16, 2018 adequacy responses for Permit Renewal No. 7.
The adequacy responses were received via email to the Division, a paper copy was sent in
the mail on the same day. The Division has completed reviewing the adequacy submittal
and has the following comments:
Rule 2.05.4 — Reclamation Plan:
14. Item 9 of the Reclamation Plan. The text references a metering point located to the north of
the Fire Mountain Canal, the Division assumes that this is the metering point along Stevens
Gulch. The text is unclear if this metering point will be included in the reclamation of the power
poles, cross arms, insulators and conductor. Please include text verifying that the metering
point will be included along with these activities.
Rule 2,05.5 — Post Mining Land Uses
11. Page 2.05-33, first paragraph, last sentence. "It is unclear how these regulations would
impact the County's approval of post mining land uses." Please remove this sentence from the
paragraph. The text in the paragraph will adequately address the Division's adequacy item no.
11 without the need for the sentence mentioned above.
o• tato
ye
1313 Sherman Street, Room 215, Denver, Co 80203 P 303.866.3567 F 303.832.8106 http://mining.state.co.us O * ; f
John W.
