WORWEST
COR PORAT ION
A pressure transducer was installed at each monitoring location to capture continuous
stream depth and will be programed to collect data every 15 minutes. Instantaneous flow
will be measured during each of the monthly site visits. A rating curve will be developed
using the continuous stream depth and instantaneous flow measurements. The rating
curve will be used to estimate flow for each of the continuous stream depth
measurements resulting in a flow hydrograph illustrating flow over time.
Handheld water quality meters will be used to collect the field parameters of pH,
temperature, conductivity, dissolved oxygen (DO), and turbidity of the water at the
compliance monitoring sites. Field parameters and water quality samples will be
collected during each of the monthly site visits. Documentation during each site visit will
include the following, recorded in both the field book and on the sample sheets:
• Date and time of arrival at location
• Sampler initials
• Weather conditions
• GPS coordinates (NAD83) and elevation
• Photo number and direction
• Daily instrument calibration information
• Sample collection time
• Sample bottle suite collected
• Field parameters (pH, temperature, conductivity, DO, turbidity)
• Description of sample (color, sediment, etc.)
• Flow measurement information
Other pertinent information will be recorded as needed to assist with characterizing the
sampling event.
2.3.1 Surface Water Sample Collection
Water quality samples of Little Turkey Creek will be collected monthly. Prior to arrival
at the first sample location each day, the handheld water quality meters will be calibrated
(USGS, 2015). All necessary equipment and supplies will be gathered and taken to the
monitoring location. The handheld field parameter meters will be placed into the stream
and allowed to stabilization prior to recording the readings. The sample bottle set will be
labeled with the sample ID, date, and time of collection, and sampler initials. The surface
water sampling analyte list is summarized in Table 2.1. All sample bottles will be filled,
using one of the non-preserved bottles to fill the bottles containing preservative.
