Transit Mix Concrete Co.
submitted with the application, these wells are described as being located within the
proposed permit boundary. Please correct the locations for these two wells.
Response: Figures C-I I and C-12 have been updated to include all the monitoring wells,
and the wells have been adjusted to the correct locations.
37) In Figure C-12, on the Insert Plan View, Little Turkey Creek is located approximately 300
feet from the northern pit crest on section line C-C'. However, on the C-C' cross-section, it
appears the northern pit crest is located approximately 200 feet from Little Turkey Creek.
Which is the correct distance at that location? Please revise the cross-section and/or inset so
that they are consistent and correct. Additionally, please provide clarification on whether
the proposed operation intends to mine into the Little Turkey Creek fault zone. (The pit
outline is difficult to make out on this cross-section due to the patterned background and
other features present at that location.)
Response: Figure C-12 has been updated to clearly show the locations of the pit crest,
Little Turkey Creek, and the fault zone. Transit Mix does not intend to mine into the fault
zone along Little Turkey Creek as this zone is located immediately adjacent to and below
the creek and within the 100-foot setback.
38) For Figure C-12,please clarify the purpose of cross-section D-D'.
Response: Cross-section D-D' was included on Figure C-12 to show the groundwater
conditions in the sandstone aquifer east of the project area.
39) On Figures C-4 through C-8, please add the proposed 100-foot mining setback from Little
Turkey Creek.
Response: Figures C-4 through C-8 have been revised to include the 100-foot mining
setback from Little Turkey Creek.
EXHIBIT D
40) On page D-2, the Applicant states that final development elevations will remain a
minimum of 10 feet above the level of Little Turkey Creek. Please also confirm the pit
floor will remain a minimum of 10 feet above the thalweg of Little Turkey Creek during
mining operations.
Response: Correct. The pit floor and drainage control structures will remain at least 10
feet above the thalweg of Little Turkey Creek during mining operations and for closure.
The only exception to this limit is the discharge pipe and channel connecting the pit area to
Little Turkey Creek. Connecting these water conveyance structures requires disturbance to
the creek highwater line.
41) On page D-3, the Applicant states that prior to commencing mining.... mining crest limits
and affected lands boundary will be GPS surveyed and staked to delineate mining activity
Hitch Rack Ranch Quarry(M-2017-049)
Response to Comments—March 9,2018
