li
' o . Transit Mix Concrete Co.
NUMONONResponse: The area extending southeast from the plant area includes the discharge pipe
from the Plant Sediment Detention Basin, as shown on the Exhibit G maps. This discharge
pipe will be operational for the duration of mining; during reclamation, Phase 6, the
discharge pipe is removed, and an open channel constructed to convey runoff from the
reclaimed pit area to Little Turkey Creek. Details on this open channel have been included
in the Exhibit E and G text.
28) Figures C-9b and C-9c show cross-sections of the F1 and F2 backfill areas with final slope
configurations. Please provide similar cross-sections for these two backfill areas showing
operation slope configurations.
Response: The operational profiles for the cross-sections of the F1 and F2 backfill areas
have been included in Exhibit C on Figures C-9b and C-9c.
29) Please specify the minimum distance that will be maintained between the toe of the F1
backfill pile and Little Turkey Creek. Please also specify the minimum distance that will be
maintained between the toe of the pile and the proposed affected land boundary.
Response: The toe of the F 1 stockpile is approximately 700 feet from Little Turkey Creek.
There are additional affected lands at the toe of the F 1 stockpile for a sediment detention
basin to remove sediment from runoff from the stockpile. The sediment detention basin is
approximately 500 feet from the creek.
30) In Figure C-9c, the cross-sections of the F2 backfill area indicate that a ridge of unmined
rock will remain along the northern edge of the pit. Please specify the anticipated height of
the northern pit crest with respect to the pit floor and to Little Turkey Creek. (The Division
understands the pit floor elevation will be maintained a minimum of 10 feet above the
elevation of Little Turkey Creek).
Response: A ridge of unmined rock will remain along the north edge of the pit. The top of
this ridge will be between 30 feet and 80 feet above Little Turkey Creek and up to 50 feet
above the pit floor. The north-facing side of this ridge will not be disturbed, and it will
remain vegetated. Transit Mix will backfill against this ridge when placing stockpile F2
and grade this ridge but select rock outcroppings will remain in some locations. Sections
of rock outcropping that are a maximum of 30 feet tall and less than 150 feet long may
remain. These sections will be south facing and will not be visible from Little Turkey
Creek Road.
31) In Figure C-9c, on the D-D' cross-section, the elevations on the right side of the cross-
section(D' side) are not lined up correctly with the ones on the left side of the cross-section
(D side). Please correct this error.
Response: Figure C-9c has been revised to correct the elevations on cross-section D-D'.
Hitch Rack Ranch Quarry(M-2017-049)
Response to Comments—March 9,2018
