Randall, Executive Director | Virginia Brannon, Director 1313 Sherman Street, Room 215 Denver, CO 80203 March 7, 2018 Garfield County Planning Department Planning Director 108 8th Street, Suite 201 Glenwood Springs, CO 81601-3355 Re: North Thompson Creek Mine (Permit No. C-1981-025) Permit Renewal Application No. 7 (RN-7 ) Dear Garfield County Planning Department: The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety hereby issues notice, in accordance with Title 34, Article 33, Section 118, Paragraph 3, of the Colorado Revised Statutes, that on March 7, 2018 , an application to renew an existing permit to conduct coal mining operations at the North Thompson Creek Mine was considered complete for the purposes of filing. All review and comment periods as provided in the Colorado Surface Mining Reclamation Act and the Rules initiate from this date of filing. MINREC, Inc. proposes to continue underground coal mining and/or reclamation operations on land located approximately 10 miles Southwest of Carbondale, Colorado. The permit area is further described as follows: T8S, R89W; Portions of Sections 21, 22, 27, 28, 33, 34 and 35 T9S, R89W; Portions of Sections 2, 3 and 4 T7S, R88W; Portions of Sections 20, 29, 30 and 32. The above-mentioned tracts of land are shown on the following USGS 7.5 minute Quadrangle map(s): Stony Ridge . Minrec Inc has submitted an application for the renewal of the existing permit for the North Thompson Creek Mines. No new disturbances or activity is proposed. This renewal application does not propose revisions to the approved mining and reclamation plan, nor is there any proposed surface disturbance outside of the currently approved disturbance area.
