NPLs for POC wells
are presented in Section 5.
4.1.1.1 Groundwater Monitoring Baseline Data Evaluation
All groundwater monitoring data collected during the extended baseline monitoring period, as well as
previous data from the wells established prior to TR-18, are in Appendix B. Appendix B is organized by
watershed, with data for each groundwater monitoring location presented on individual tables. The data in
these tables has been summarized with descriptive statistics, including the calculation of the minimum,
maximum, and mean concentrations, the standard deviation, the number of data records, or analyses for
each analyte, and the number of observations below the method detection limit.
In the TR-18 WQMP, the program included monitoring the full parameter list for the initial five consecutive
quarters of monitoring, then reducing analyses to just the indicator parameter list. Baseline conditions have
been established for groundwater as a result of the extended monitoring conducted through the fourth
quarter of 2017 using the full parameter list.
Apparent increasing trends of several constituents in monitoring well EVMW-1S (below the Robinson Lake
seepage cut-off wall in the Eagle River Watershed) in 2013 resulted in increased monitoring, field
investigation and data evaluation efforts for this area of the Site(Tetra Tech, 2013 and Tetra Tech, 2014).
Through this effort sulfate, TDS, iron, and manganese were identified as the primary indicators of mining-
related influences on water quality, and are therefore the key indicator parameters at Climax in evaluating
water quality trends. As indicated in the 2013 and 2014 reports for the Robinson seep investigation, no
increases were observed in concentrations of other TR-18 indicator parameters cadmium, copper, lead,
molybdenum or zinc. Nevertheless, with the exception of lead, all of these parameters will remain on the
Climax indicator parameter list.
EPP—Appendix C March 2018 13
