Hays
Re: Technical Revision M-1984-076 DDD Mine, Elbert County, Colorado
Dear Mr. Hays:
On November 30, 2017, the Division conducted an inspection of the DDD Mine operated by General
Shale Brick, Inc. (GSB). The Division is requesting changes to the following in Stage 1A, known at the
DWR Mine, with a technical revision:
1. Update the Mine Plan for the relocation of the access road from the west portion to the middle
portion of the site
Please see revised map exhibit D -1A for location of the old and new entrances.
2. Increase the maximum allowed disturbance acreage
• The current disturbed acreage for the DEB Mine is incorrect. The acreage should be
23.20 acres. The confusion comes from the reclaimed area acreage of 3.1 acres, which
is already included in the moderate disturbance calculations.
• Proposed maximum disturbed acreages are as follows:
3. Include the new stonnwater detention pond located in the east portion of the site
• Please see revised map exhibit D-1 A for location of the east stormwater pond named
Boston's Stock Pond.
• Please see revised map exhibit F -1A for location of the east stormwater pond named
Boston's Stock Pond that will remain after reclamation is complete.
2016 TR -03 2018 Proposed
Disturbed Disturbed
Acres Acres
DEB Mine
26.00 25.00
DWR Mine
34.00 43.00
Grand Total
60.00 68.00
3.
