IP
5
lands aboriginally inhabited by the Utes, LSFO has invited representatives of the three federally
recognized Ute tribes to visit the sites and provide comments on the possible cultural importance
of the sites to the Ute people.
Preliminary results of the coal exploration drilling program suggest that the sites could
experience direct and indirect effects from proposed mining. One of the wickiup sites could be
directly affected by expansion of an open pit coal mine. The other wickiup site could be
indirectly affected in that a powerline needing to be rerouted around the pit would then lie within
the viewshed of the site.
100: B N uze: j s: X5 095: 8/29/2016
BN
RIAY16
