The coal
mining company hired the archaeological consulting firm Grand River Institute (GRI) to
conduct three block surveys to identify historic and prehistoric sites in an area that: 1)
encompasses the proposed expansion and 2) included coal exploration drilling locations. BLM
has previously mailed the three block survey reports to SHPO.
A narrative attached to a Concurrence Letter accompanying one of the block survey reports
(BLM project # 11.1.2014; Office of Archaeology and Historic Preservation project #
