Evaluation and Management Recommendation <br />The site was originally field evaluated as "need data" (2013). Subsequent testing of the <br />site did not reveal any subsurface deposits. No indication of depth of cultural fill was observed <br />and at least a portion of the site is of modern origin. Accordingly, the site is field reevaluated <br />as not eligible for listing on the National Register of Historic Places. No further work is <br />recommended. <br />Site 5MF7794, Prehistoric Open Camp <br />Site 5MF7794, a prehistoric open camp, is located in the drainage bottom of Jeffway <br />Gulch in the Williams Fork Mountains (Plate 9). Vegetation consists of sagebrush, grasses, <br />serviceberry, and Gambel oak. The site is underlain by Cretaceous age sandstone, shale, and <br />major coal beds of the Williams Fork formation. <br />Grand River Institute recorded the site in 2014. A boundary measuring 54 by 52 meters <br />was established around the observed cultural materials. The resource is characterized by one <br />thermal feature (Feature 1), a metate, and two manos. <br />Plate 9. Site 5MF7794, overview, site is located at tripod in photo center right. <br />29 <br />
