Haul Road A is an existing road that runs from the mine
facility area down to the Gossard Loadout, and this route is approximately 16,837 feet in length.
The approved width of the existing road is approximately 40 feet. If approved, the width of Haul
Road A would increase from 40 feet to 70 feet. Construction activities will most likely begin in
the spring or summer of 2018 pending CDRMS's approval.
CPW has worked collaboratively with the Office of Surface Mining Reclamation and
Enforcement (OSMRE) and Colowyo Mine to develop site-specific mitigation that will help
reduce, minimize or avoid impacts to wildlife and wildlife habitat associated with this project.
These mitigation practices have been documented via other correspondence documents with
OSMRE, and CPW believes that the proposed widening of the existing haul road falls within the
scope of anticipated impacts that were considered and included in these documents.
CPW appreciates the opportunity to provide comments for Technical Revision No. 119.
