Initially, the event was
reported to DRMS as a spill from the process ore thickener tank. After additional investigation, it was
determined the spill originated with the process water tank. The spill occurred mid-morning February 4,
2018.
The following points address the requirements of Rule 8, section 8.2.3:
a. Actions taken to respond to and correct the emergency situation or condition
• At approximately 10:30 am a spill of neutral pH water was observed from the process water
tank. An issue with chutes clogging at the filter presses caused a backup, which resulted in
overtopping of the Neutral Process Water Tank causing Neutral pH water to leave
containment. Approximately 300-400 gallons of neutral pH water were spilled.
• A sample of the impact soil was collected for analysis.
b. Any known or adverse impacts to human health, property or the environment
No impacts to human health or the environment were observed or are expected to occur.
