extinguisher; however, additional fire extinguishers may be required by an authorized representative of <br />the Secretary. Auxiliary equipment such as portable drills, sweepers, and scrapers, when operated more <br />than 600 feet from equipment required to have portable fire extinguishers, shall be equipped with at <br />least one fire extinguisher. Fire extinguishers shall be provided at permanent electrical installations <br />commensurate with the potential fire hazard at such installation in accordance with the recommendation <br />of the NFPA. Two portable fire extinguishers, or the equivalent, shall be provided at each of the <br />following combustible liquid storage installations: near each above ground or unburied combustible <br />liquid storage station; and near the transfer pump at each combustible liquid storage tank. <br />"Firefighting equipment shall be continuously maintained in a usable and operative condition. Fire <br />extinguishers shall be examined at least once every six months and the date of such examination shall be <br />recorded on a permanent tag attached to the extinguisher. one portable fire extinguisher shall be <br />provided at each location where welding, cutting, or soldering with arc or flame is performed." <br />The Western Surface Agreement of 1987 of the International Union of United Mine Workers of America also <br />requires annual retraining of miners in the instruction of fire warning signs and firefighting <br />procedures. <br />SP is in compliance with and conducts all required MSHA and UMWA courses as stated in the law and <br />contract, respectively. <br />Health and Sa <br />The Yoast Mine previously operated under the Federal Mine Safety and Health Act of 1977, PL 95-164. The <br />Mine Safety and Health Administration (MSHA), the enforcement agency, is a part of the U.S. Department <br />of Labor. MSHA is required to inspect and enforce the Code of Federal Regulations Title 30, which <br />includes Parts 48, 50, 71 and 77. With cessation of active mining operations and completion of <br />subsequent site reclamation, the Mine property was put in "Permanent Cessation", and the property is no <br />longer under MSHA jurisdiction and no longer maintains an MSHA ID (previously 05-00304). <br />Part 48 sets forth the requirements for obtaining approval of training programs and specifies the type <br />of training including new employee orientation for non -experienced miners, orientation of newly employed <br />experienced miners, annual refresher course for all miners, hazard training for non -employees coming <br />onto mine property, and task training for employees who are assigned new jobs temporarily. <br />RN-04(Tab 02) 7 Revised 04/17 <br />
