Newmont Mining Corporation
Cripple Creek&Victor Gold Mine
HGM Platform Extension CQA
NewFields Job No.475.0106.019
Friday,August 04,2017
FIELD DAILY PROGRESS REPORT
PROJECT: HIGH GRADE MILL(HGM) PLATFORM EXTENSION
SITE: CRIPPLE CREEK&VICTOR GOLD MINE(COLORADO)
CONTRACTOR: SCHMUESER ASSOCIATES
DATE: FRIDAY,AUGUST 04,2017
TEMPERATURE: LOW:42°F TO HIGH: 69°F
WEATHER: MOSTLY CLEAR,AFTERNOON THUNDERSTORM WITH PRECIPITATION
NEWFIELDS PERSONNEL ONSITE: ERIC NIEBLER, FIELD TECHNICIAN
1.0 EARTHWORKS
1.1 General
Berms along the edge of road beneath the mill platform were maintained and raised to
appropriate heights as the road was raised with select structural fill.
1.2 Subgrade
Existing slopes between the mill platform and road beneath it were cleaned of unsuitable
material, primarily large cobbles and boulders, with an excavator in order to provide a
competent surface for the select structural fill to tie in with.
1.3 Select Structural Fill (SSF)
A method specification was developed during construction for compaction. The use of this
method compaction technique was necessary as the select structural fill material contained
more than 30 percent rock above the 3/4-inch sieve, classifying it as a rock fill. It was found
that in conjunction with the specified lift size of 12 inches, four passes of the BW211 Bomag
roller would be sufficient for compaction in the method specification.
Select structural fill transported the previous day was compacted by a BW211 Bomag roller.
Additional select structural fill was transported and dumped by a Volvo A4OF articulated dump
truck (approximately 25 CY per load). The fill was spread using a loader to a loose thickness of
12 inches. The subgrade along the side slopes and select structural fill were moisture
conditioned where necessary and then compacted.
Page 1
