Stover & Associates, Inc. <br />2352 North 7th Street, Unit B <br />RE: North Thompson Creek Mines, Permit No. C-1981-025 <br />2017 Annual Reclamation Report Review <br />Dear Mr. Stover, <br />The Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety (the Division) received a copy of the 2017 <br />Annual Reclamation Report on January 11, 2018 for the North Thompson Creek Mines. Thank <br />you for you timely submittal. The Division has finished reviewing the report and has the <br />following comments: <br />The report indicates that there were no reclamation activities that occurred during 2017. The <br />total acres disturbed over the life of the mine is 65.2 acres. Of the 65.2 acres disturbed, 61.1 <br />acres have been Phase III bond released. The remaining 4.1 acres are categorized as acreage in <br />long-term mining or reclamation facilities. The 4.1 acres is associated with the series of 5 ponds <br />approved to remain on site and serve as a water treatment system for the Mine. No. 1 and Mine <br />No. 3 portal discharges. <br />During inspections throughout 2017, thistle and knapweed were identified at the site. Thistle <br />was observed on the embankment of Pond P9 and along the ditch to the Refuse Pond. During <br />inspections of the mine, areas that had been treated for weeds were located. The treated areas <br />were showing positive results.
