PSH WHE
M-1996-064 TRO4
y Annual Fee/Report: CW
ACME No Violations
BRICK
em-, I'm Acme Brick Company
December 13, 2017
Mr. Peter Hays
Colorado Division of Reclamation, I4iining & Safety
1313 Sherman St, Rm. 215
Denver, CO 80203
Re: Stevens Mine technical revision request.
Dear Peter Hays:
RECEIVED
FEB 0 5 2018
DIVISION OF RECLAMATION
MININGAND SIFE1Y
l l— 15q& —06AI
In response to the monitoring report dated November 9, 2017 Acme Brick Company would like to request a
technical revision to allow Acme to import grog (broken/unsellable fired brick, ie. masonry products) and brick saw dust
as backfill material for this site.
.As per Rule 3.1.5(9)(a) The current area to be backfilled is the southeast corner of the clay pit.
As per Rule 3.1.5(9)(b)Approximately 12,000 tons of grog and 1,000 tons of brick saw dust would be hauled
from the plant in C=astle Rock to the mine site.
As per Rule 3.1.5(9)(c) citing Rule 1.1(20) A signed affidavit certifying that the material is clean and inert is
included with this mailing.
As per Rule 3.1.5(9)(d) The approximate dates for the proposed activity will be from April 15, 2017 to October
31, 2017 or as necessary to fulfill the reclamation requirements.
As per Rule 3.1.5(9)(e) There currently is not sufficient structural fill material on-site to backfill the area to meet
the post mining configuration. The inert material imported as backfill material will assist in meeting those requirements.
As per Rule 3.1.5(9) (f) The inert materials will be dumped at the site and pushed/spread into the pit area along
the southeasterly side with a front end loader and/or a bulldozer. The grog will be dumped and spread then the brick
saw dust will be worked over the top to help fill any voids. The process will continue in this fashion,
We hope the above information and attached supporting documentation are sufficient for compliance with the
recent DMIS request. If you have any questions, please contact Robert Tibbetts C-20-244-4223), and I will be happy to
assist the Division with any additional desired information.
Sincerely,
Robert Tibbetts
Mining Supervisor
Cc: Steve Heizer, Plant Manager
Roger Wille, Plant Superintendent
Lynn Burchfield, I1iWP Regional Production Manager
