January 31, 2018 C-1981-018/Deserado Mine JDM Number of Partial Inspection this Fiscal Year: 4 Number of Complete Inspections this Fiscal Year: 3 Page 5 of 8 SDH-3 Erosion GENERAL MINE PLAN COMPLIANCE: No permitting actions are on-going with the Division. The back-up mine fan construction continues with no problems noted. PROCESSING WASTE/COAL MINE WASTE PILES – Rule 4.10 and 4.11 Drainage Control; Surface Stabilization; Placement: Refuse Pile - 2/3/4 refuse was snow covered, stable, and compacted at the time of the inspection with no material being stockpiled at the time of the inspection. Grading allowed good run-off to ponds. Refuse Pile - 5 was snow covered, well compacted and stable at the time of the inspection. Both sites showed good run-off to the ponds via the collection ditches with no rills or gullies identified on the out slopes of the piles. ROADS – Rule 4.03 Construction 4.03.1(3)/4.03.2(3) Drainage 4.03.1(4)/4.03.2(4) Surfacing and Maintenance4.03.1(5) and (6)/4.03.2(5) and (6) Reclamation 4.03.1(7)/4.03.2(7): The Deserado Mine road is well maintained and in good condition. The haul road from the facilities area to the refuse disposal area was stable with no problems noted, with the exception of the following: - The roadside ditch has at the straw bales has begun to fill with sediment, this ditch should be cleaned to ensure proper functionality. The conveyor corridor road, access roads and light-use roads were in good condition with no problems noted. SUPPORT FACILITIES ON-SITE: Support facilities on-site were stable with no problems noted, with the exception of the following: -Non-coal waste was noted outside of the Halandres Landfill pit area. This material will need to be removed and placed in the landfill rather than outside of the pit along the access road.
