Summit Brick and Tile Company Fox No 1 Clay Pit
M-1977-219 - Adequacy Response #3 Page 2
55.3 The Applicant states all non -owned structures are located and the distance to these
structures are measured and recorded. The Applicant also states the closest non -owned structure
is 1,400 feet from the blast area. Please provide a map and list of all dwellings and the distance
to the dwelling within one-half mile of the blasting areas.
The reference to the 1400 feet was from the area were
blasting last took place. Due to the varied locations
where blasting could potentially take place on the
mine over its life, is difficult to just measure from
a "blasting area" to a closest house at this time. I
prepared a map using the permit boundary as the
closest point to off site dwellings and then drew a
one-half mile setback line around the permit line. I
used the GOOGLE Earth and the Pueblo County Assessor's
records to determine if there were any structures in
this buffer zone. From this I found that either on
the permit area or surrounding it there are 16 houses.
The attached map shows the location of all structures
within one-half mile of the permit area and a list of
the owners of said structures. This list differs from
the Structures list is Exhibit S since it includes all
houses within 2640 feet of the mine. Due to the sheer
size of this mine the most reasonable map scale that I
could produce was 111=12831. This list and map may
change over the life of the mine because more homes
may be built or other may be removed. As noted in the
blasting plan it will be necessary to do a resurvey
for new structures each time blasting moves from one
mining area to the next. In some cases the homes may
not be within a half mile of where blasting will take
place, but this list will serves as a basis for
determining what structure surveys will be needed when
it is time to implement the Pre -Blasting Survey Plan
for any mining Area
55.4 The typical sandstone and clay thickness details within the Blasting Plan are in conflict
with details within the Mining Plan, Please revise the sandstone and clay thicknesses to match
the information in the Mining Plan_
