Peabod <br />1111 ENERGY <br />Twentymile Coal, LLC <br />29515 Routt County Road 27 <br />Oak Creek, CO 80467 <br />970.879.3800 <br />Ms. Tabetha Lynch RECEIVED January 23, 2018 <br />Environmental Protection Specialist <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining, and Safety JAN 29 2018 <br />1313 Sherman Street - Room 215 <br />Denver, Colorado 80203 Division of Reclamation, <br />(970) 866-3567 X8147 Mining & Safety <br />Re: Twentymile Coal, LLC (TC) — Foidel Creek Mine (C-82-056), 2017 Annual Reclamation Report <br />Dear Ms. Lynch: <br />Enclosed are duplicate copies of the 2017 Annual Reclamation Report (ARR) for the Foidel Creek Mine. <br />During 2017, TC filed for a five-year Permit Renewal, and a number of activities were permitted and initiated <br />under Technical and Minor Revision approvals (summarized as follows), with most of the permitted activities <br />occurring within existing disturbance areas (no change in acreage unless otherwise noted): <br />Permit Renewal RN17-07 (Mid -Term Review combined with Renewal, submitted 10/27/17, approval <br />pending) <br />TR17-87, Sandstone Sub Thickener Underflow Borehole and Pipeline (submitted 03/14/17, approved <br />06/22/17, no new disturbance) <br />TR17-88, SWMD and WMD Thickener Underflow Boreholes, Pump Booster Station, and Pipelines <br />(submitted 04/11/17, approved 07/11/17, + 13.5 acres disturbed) <br />MRI 7-303, Sandstone Substation Test Hole (submitted 01/02/17, approved 02/02/17, no new disturbance) <br />MR17-304, 9 -East Additional Utility Boreholes (submitted 01/12/17, approved 02/23/17, +0.4 acres <br />disturbed) <br />MR17-305, Stoker Coal Screening Test (submitted 02/22/17, approved 03/07/17, no new disturbance) <br />MR17-306, Sandstone Sub Thickener Underflow Borehole and Pipeline (submitted 03/16/17, approved <br />03/17/17, replaced by TR -87) <br />MR17-307, SWMD and WMD Thickener Underflow Boreholes, Pump Booster Station, and Pipelines <br />(replaced by TR -88) <br />Changes in permitted disturbed and affected area acreages during 2017 included increases in the permitted <br />disturbed and affected acreage of 13.9 acres (TR17-88 and MR 17-304). Additional permitted surface <br />disturbance during 2017 resulted in a cumulative total for permitted surface disturbance of approximately 747.7 <br />acres, although actual disturbance is 742.9 acres (4.8 acres permitted but not yet disturbed). Please refer to the <br />revised maps and text associated with the revisions referenced above, for specific details. <br />Key mining and related activities occurring during 2017 included: <br />➢ Ongoing development and longwall mining operations in the WMD (Panels 9RT and 8RT) <br />➢ Additional soil material stripping and extension of the underdrain, ongoing refuse placement activities, <br />and reclamation of the completed second bench of the Coal Refuse Disposal Expansion Area <br />➢ Expansion and upgrades of Thickener Underflow pipeline and borehole system to increase flexibility <br />and system redundancy (Sandstone Sub Thickener Underflow Borehole and Pipeline, SWMD and <br />WMD Thickener Underflow Boreholes, Pump Booster Station, and Pipelines) <br />
