However, the proposed permit area lies within the boundaries of the Cripple Creek
1 listoric District (5112), tic Gold Ding Mine site (5T7..149), and tic Cripple Creek Historic Alining; District
(5T1,1986). 5112 is listed on the National Register of Historic Places (NIU -111) and is a National Historic
landmark, and as such is also included on tie State Registtr of l--listoric Places. 51119$6 has been officially
determined eligible for listing to the NRI -IP, although it is not fisted on the National or State Re6istcr of
I gistnnc places at flus time. To date, 5 rL149 has, not received an official determination of ehgibihty.
A fter review of the scope of work, it is our opinion that the proposed work, xvNch involves reclamation
acuviues on 0,6 acres of land outside the permit boundary, will not advcrselyF affect the above-mentioned
properucs of liistoncal significance -
AS most of Colorado has not been inventoried for cultural resources, our files contain incomplete
inl'ormauon. Consequently- there is the possibility that as yet unidentified cultural resources wast within the
proposed permit arca. 11w requirements under CRS 24-110 part 13 appl} and must be followed if human
rem;uns arc discovered during ground disturbing acd%itics-
We think you for ilio opportunity to comment. 1 f we may be of further assistance, please contact liob (:rank,
Secuon 106 Compliance Manager, at (303) 866-1008 or robcrt.cronkre-'tate,co.us,
Sincerely,
Steve Turne , A
State I-hstoric •ovation Officer
1200 Broadway
Denver, CO 80203
OFFICE OF ARCHAEOLOGY AND HISTORIC PRESERVATION
303-866-3392 * I'm 303-866-2711 * E-mail. oahrlt state.co,us * Internet: www.historycalorado.orF
