PERMIT #: M-1999-117
INSPECTOR'S INITIALS: SJM
INSPECTION DATE: January 17, 2018
OBSERVATIONS
This was a normal monitoring inspection of Colorado Gravel Product Pit; DRMS file# M-1999-117. This site is
located about 3.75 miles west of Center, Colorado in Rio Grande County. I, Stephanie Mitchell of the Colorado
Division of Reclamation Mining and Safety conducted the inspection. Kenny Smith of Colorado Gravel
Products, Inc. accompanied me on the inspection.
This site is permitted for 77.65 acres with about 14 acres currently disturbed. The Division holds a financial
warranty amount of $88,758.00 for the site. The current financial warranty is sufficient at this time.
Adequate mine identification signage was noted at the entrance off of HWY 112 and is in accordance with Rule
3.1.12(1).
The permit area is delineated by fencing around the entire area. Material stockpiles and topsoil/overburden
stockpiles appear to be stable. Mining is currently taking place in the Northeast corner of the permit area.
Mining direction is moving into the west and is currently in Phase 2. The highwall is appears to be 20' in depth.
No Fuel is being stored on site.
A screen, dozer and D-6 Loader were on site at the time of inspection and the mine is currently active. The
north side of the permit area is currently in process of reclamation with grading at a 3:1 slope.
Overall, no problems were noted on this site. The operation appears to be in compliance with the approved
mining plan.
Responses to this inspection report should be directed to Stephanie Mitchell at the Division of Reclamation,
Mining and Safety, Grand Junction Field Office, 101 S. 3rd Street, Suite 301, Grand Junction, Colorado, 81501,
phone # 970.242.5025.
