2.05.4 Reclamation Plan
reclamation contours for the mine bench area which will not be reclaimed to
original contours. Because the disturbed area associated with the mine
bench is limited and located primarily in a draw with steep slopes and rock
outcrops, post mining topographic configuration will be similar to pre -mining
conditions and will not alter the uses.
That portion of the access road located along the canyon slopes will be
reclaimed utilizing a backhoe and bulldozer. Material will be pulled from the
down slope and cast into the road area to eliminate the road and create a
transitional slope between the creek bottom and the steeper natural slopes.
In those areas where this is not possible, such as at the highwall, the soil will
be pushed into place using a bulldozer to compact the material in one to two
foot lifts. All drainages will be reestablished and culverts removed prior to
revegetation.
Reclamation of the coal mine waste pile initially involves salvaging topsoil
from below the pile. Cover material will be salvaged from the area below the
topsoil. Coal mine waste will initially be placed four to six feet below existing
ground surface after topsoil and cover material are salvaged. This cover
material will be placed on the completed outslopes of the pile.
To the extent practicable, the coal mine waste pile will be
contemporaneously reclaimed. As noted in 2.05.3(8) the coal mine waste
pile will be plated with 3.2 feet of cover and 0.8 feet of topsoil. In total, the
1.60 acre coal mine waste pile will require the placement of approximately
2,065 cubic yards of topsoil and 8,260 cubic yards of cover.
The construction material stockpile has a capacity of about 12,000 cubic
yards. Approximately 1,700 cubic yards from the pond and facilities
excavation will be placed in the stockpile. Cover material salvaged from
the coal mine waste pile will occupy the remaining 10,300 cubic yards of
available storage.
(2)(a) Reclamation work will be initiated when the McClane Canyon Mine's
reserves are depleted. Reclamation of the site will take four years. The first
year will be set aside to salvage and sell assets. The second year will
involve the removal of buildings and structures from the site. The third and
fourth year will be used to grade the disturbed area to approximate original
PR -02 2.05-37- 10/12
