APPENDIX H
GROUNDWATER MONITORING
Monitoring of groundwater will be conducted on a total of eight monitoring wells. Seven
existing wells are located in and around the site. The locations of the wells are shown on Figure
H-1 with information on the wells provided on Table H-1.
The wells will be initially monitored on a monthly basis until completion of slurry wall
construction, which includes approval of the leak test from the Colorado Division of Water
Resources. After that, monthly monitoring will be conducted for one year, then on a quarterly
basis for the life of the permit.
The water levels in the wells will be measured using an electronic water level indicator by
Fremont personnel. The data will be forwarded by D&A on an annual basis for review and then
submitted to DRMS.
The primary well that will determine mounding trigger level response (construction of a drain)
will be Well 8 (to be drilled after approval of TR-4) located along the western permit boundary
on Operator's property. Should this well rise to 6 feet below ground surface, a drain will be
designed and installed to mitigate mounding.
H-1
