The
operator at the DRMS office sent me your way. Let me know what you think of the closure in the photos.
A little history behind the site. They reopened an old adit here that had naturally collapsed in on itself. There was an old
seep that ran out of the mine that the forest has a water right on and was used to fill a tank for some cows. Part of their
approved POO required them to have water samples tested to ensure they were not contaminating it.
Patrick J Moran
Forest Geologist
Forest Service
Rio Grande National Forest
p: 719-852-6286
f: 719-852-6264
patrickimoran(affs.fed.us
1803 West Highway 160
Monte Vista, CO 81144
www.fs.fed.us
Caring for the land and serving
people
From: Kevin Larimore[mailto:larimorekevin(@yahoo.com]
Sent: Thursday, January 26, 2017 2:43 PM
To: Moran, Patrick J -FS <patrickjmoran(@fs.fed.us>
Subject: Re: Seed Mixes
Patrick,
Here are some photos of before and after reclamation along with the water samples from start to finish. The grass seed was raked
in the soil and all trash, wood and extra piping was removed from the site. Luckily the day after the seed was spread the mine got
several inches of snow and I think there has been snow covering the seed since then, should help germination this spring! If there
is anything else you need let me know.
