• 2.2 Air Quality
Trapper Mine monitored ambient air levels for Total Suspended Particulates (TSP) from 1974 through 1988.
Guidelines and procedures as outlined by the Colorado Air Pollution Control Division (APCD) were followed.
The data collected were used as the basis for issuance of Trapper's current emission permits.
As illustrated in Figures 2.2 -1 and 2.2 -2, two emissions permits are currently maintained by Trapper Mine.
Figure 2.2 -1 illustrates an emission permit for surface mining operations and utility ash and sludge disposal
(Permit No. 11MF253 -1). This permit was revised in 2009 and combined previously separate permits for
surface coal mining and utility and ash sludge disposal. Figure 2.2 -2 gives air emissions permit for a coal
stockpile (Permit C- 11,253(2)). This coal stockpile has yet to be built at Trapper Mine. Section 4.7.1
describes the current approved monitoring program.
•
2 -54
L2L-(Or
