in the permit. The applicant will reestablish shrubs on Range Sites A and B by <br />including various native shrubs in the seed mixes and by transplanting mature <br />woody shrub clumps. There is no shrub density standard for Range Site C. (4.15. <br />7(1)). <br />XII. Post -mining Land Use <br />Post -mining land use is discussed under Section 4.2, Vol. IV of the permit application. <br />Cropland, rangeland and wildlife habitat are currently approved post -mining land uses. <br />These land uses meet the criteria of Rule 4.16.3. <br />XIII. Protection of Fish, Wildlife and Related Environmental Values <br />Section 4. 6 of Vol. IV of the permit application discusses the protection of fish, wildlife <br />and related environmental values. <br />Wildlife habitat is a planned post -mining land use. The applicant selected appropriate <br />plant species and distributions to benefit fish and wildlife (4.18(4)(1)). <br />XIV. Protection of Underground Mining <br />At the time of this writing (Dec. 2017), Trapper will not be conducting any further <br />mining on the west end. The area has been fully reclaimed (4.19(1) and 4.22.4(1)). <br />XV. Subsidence Control <br />No specific approvals are granted to the applicant under this section. <br />XVI. Concurrent Surface and Underground Mining <br />No specific approvals are granted to the applicant under this section. <br />XVII. Operations on Alluvial Valley Floors <br />Operations on alluvial valley floors (A V F s) are discussed in Section 4.8.4 of Vol. IV of <br />the permit application. <br />1. Yampa River 2. Williams Fork River <br />3. No Name Gulch 4. Johnson Gulch <br />5. Pyeatt Gulch 6. Flume Gulch <br />Any of those alluvial valleys would meet the regulatory definition of an alluvial valley floor <br />(AVF) if the valleys had water availability sufficient for flood -irrigated agricultural activities <br />[Section 1.04(10)], or availability of water sufficient for sub -irrigated agricultural activities <br />[Section 1.04(10)]. Flood irrigation is practiced on the valley floors of the Yampa River in the <br />Big Bottom area and the Williams Fork River near its confluence with the Yampa. Based on the <br />presence of unconsolidated stream -laid holding streams with water availability sufficient for <br />flood -irrigated agricultural activities, the following two alluvial valleys have been determined to <br />be alluvial valley floors: <br />1. the Yampa River in the Big Bottom area <br />2. the Williams Fork River near its confluence with the Yampa River. <br />21 <br />
