Trujillo DEC 21 2017 DEC 2 2 7017 <br />I `nvironmental Protection Specialist pivision of Reclamation, <br />Division of Reclamation, Mining and Safety Mining & Safety <br />1313 Shenuan Street, Room 315 <br />Denver, Colorado 80303 <br />Re: Colowyo Coal Mine (Permit No. C-1981-019) Technical Revision No. 117 (TR -117) South Taylor <br />Post Kline Topography (I iC #67752) <br />Dear Mr. Trujillo: <br />We received your correspondence dated December 4, 2017 on December 7, 2017 initiating consultation <br />with our office under the State Register of I hstoric Places Act (CRS 24-80-1 et seq.) for the above <br />referenced undertaking. <br />.\s the above referenced pen -nit revision does not propose additional surface disturbance outside of the <br />currently approved area for disturbance, it is our opinion that a finding of no historic properties affected <br />is appropriate for the proposed undertaking pursuant to 36 ClIt 800.4(d)(1). <br />Should unidentified archaeological resources be discovered in the course of the project, work must <br />be interrupted until the resources have been evaluated in terms of the National Register cligibilin, <br />criteria (36 (,I -,R 60.4) in consultation with our office pursuant to 36 CFR 800.13. ,Uso, should the <br />consulted -upon scope of the work change please contact our oft -ice for continued consultation under <br />36 CFR 800. <br />\Ve request being involved in the consultation process with the local government, which as stipulated <br />in 36 CI'R 800.3 is required to be notified of the undertaking, and with other consulting parties. <br />:\ddirional information provided by the local government or consulting parties might cause our <br />()ffice to re-evaluate our eligibility- and potential effect Findings. Please note that our compliance <br />letter does not end the 30 -day review period provided to other consulting parties. <br />We thank you for the opportunit}, to comment.
