The seed mixture will be planted between September 1 and May 31 (with <br /> preference to fall seeding in September, October and November so the soil <br /> accumulate a reserve of moisture from winter precipitation). The seed mix will be <br /> drilled between one-quarter and one-half inch deep. If needed, the topsoil will be <br /> harrowed first to break up the bed into medium-size clods. If needed, the soil will <br /> be disced at least two times to break the clods into smaller pieces. Erosion control <br /> ditches will be constructed. Next, the seed will be drilled. Seedbed preparation <br /> will occur j us t prior to seeding so that the drilling can be done in a freshly-broken <br /> medium. <br /> Soil samples will be collected from soil that has been placed on the area to <br /> be seeded and not out of the stockpiles. Tests will be performed at the Colorado <br /> State University Soil Testing Laboratory or other qualified testing facility. The <br /> operator will instruct the laboratory to perform a routine test plus a sodium <br /> evaluation. Fertilizers will be applied as and where indicated by the soil analyses. <br /> The revegetated area will be closed to grazing during a period of two years <br /> after seeding, or until the Board approves grazing conditions. <br /> A weed-free mulch at the rate of approximately 2,000 lbs. per acre will be <br /> applied. About 30 lbs. per acre of nitrogen fertilizer will be applied to aid in <br /> decomposition of the mulch without creating nitrogen deficiencies in the young <br /> vegetation.
