Then seeding can occur between September 1 and May 31 (with preference to fall
seeding in September, October and November so the soil accumulate a reserve of
moisture from winter precipitation) After seeding, the remaining time in the two to
five-year phase will be used to monitor the success of the plan and to make
necessary repairs and adjustments.
Compaction will not exceed that derived from normal equipment operation in
redepositing the soil. Excessive compaction in these soils could encourage erosion
and make establishment of vegetation more difficult.
Reclamation Performance Standards
The operator intends to operate the site in compliance with the Reclamation
Performance Standards of Rule 6.
Grading will be performed to create a final topography appropriate to the
planned future land use. When backfilling is necessary, the operator will replace
overburden and waste materials in the mined area and will insure that heavy
equipment used for this purpose is compacting the earth sufficiently well to
achieve good stability. All grading will be done in a manner to control erosion and
to protect areas outs ide the affected land from slides or other damage. All
backfilling and grading will be completed as soon as feasible after the mining
process. Any refuse will be handled and disposed of in a manner that will control
unsightliness and protect the drainage system from pollution.
There are no acid-forming or toxic materials involved in this operation. There will
be no drill or auger holes left on the land. Maximum slopes will be within the
20 Revised October 2017
