irrigation to become established. In dry years, the degree of success may be
lessened without irrigation, but some of these species tend to have a relatively
extended longevity of seed and those that remain ungerminated are expected to
germinate the next year. If not, spot seeding can be done to thicken stands that did
not show good initial success because of drought restraints.
Periodic monitoring will occur during the growing season on each newly-
revegetated area so that areas that exhibit any weakness of seeding success or
nutritional deficiencies can be identified. If low seeding success is noted,
reseeding will be done in the following spring. If nutritional deficiencies are
observed, appropriate fertilizers or other soil amendments and conditioners will be
added.
The revegetation monitoring plan will consider weed growth and, where
necessary, prompt implementation of weed control measures will be carried out.
Whether the weeds will be controlled by mechanical or chemical means will
depend on the total growth conditions at the time.
Reclamation Timetable. The reclamation phases listed in the following
table may be correlated to Map Exhibits D-1 and F. The phases correspond to the
mining stages and are numbered accordingly. These are estimates only and
variations may occur.
28 Revised October 2017
