December 10, 2017 <br /> BLASTING PLAN FOR SUMMIT BRICK QUARRY-FOX PIT <br /> NEAR BEULAH COLORADO <br /> SCOPE OF WORK <br /> The quarry at Beulah is has been developed for the extraction of the clay, sandstone as a stone <br /> product and borrow. Note that certain types of the clay are referred to as flint. <br /> The following is the description of how the area is prepared for the drilling and blasting <br /> of this said material and the procedures used to accomplish this drilling and blasting. Although the <br /> sandstone is predominantly the material being shot, the clay/flint at times will need to be shot. <br /> PREPARATION OF BLASTING AREA <br /> The area to be drilled and blasted is first stripped of the topsoil material, with this material <br /> being saved in topsoil stockpiles.This preparation is done as to permit the safe and normal travel across <br /> the area by the drill, drill support equipment and the explosive blend truck. <br /> The areas for blasting are determined by the operators of the mining operation. <br /> BLAST DESIGN AND LAYOUT <br /> After the area is deemed satisfactory for layout, measurements are taken of the surface area <br /> dimensions of the proposed blast area, determination of the thickness and types of material, and if <br /> there is a free face existing. <br /> All non-owned structures are located and the distance to these structures is measured and <br /> recorded. <br /> With the aforementioned information, along with the historic blasting data, a drilling and <br /> blasting plan is developed.The following is the blasting design used mostly in the past and will be used <br /> in upcoming blasts, unless the parameters have changed. Note that thicknesses of the subsurface <br /> structures do vary which require different hole patterns and/or different drill hole sizes. <br /> The thickness of the sandstone structure typically varies from 11 ft. to 25 ft.; and the clay/flint(if <br /> it is of a hardness needing to be shot) varies from 4 ft. to 15 ft. The nearest non-owned structure is <br /> currently more than 1,400 ft. <br />
